Dolls with nutcracker theme are very popular in Russia as well as in the US. The Nutcracker ballet was initially presented at the Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, on December 17, 1892. Peter Tchaikovsky, the famous Russian composer wrote the music. The choreographer Marius Petipa composed the ballet, score based on Alexandre Dumas’s adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffman’s tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King."
